History
The CPF Radio Hour was created by Glenn Greggs, who wanted to showcase plays from up and coming playwrights in a “play-it-by-ear” live radio format. The CPF Radio Hour premiered on April 11th 2017, broadcasting out of the WCOM 103.5 FM radio station in Carrboro. Glenn produced and hosted the first season of the program from April 2017 until July 2018 – a total of 49 episodes that included live radio plays, interviews with local artists, and spoken word pieces.
2018 – Christian O’Neal picked up the show for its second season, hosting 32 live episodes on WCOM 103.5 FM between July 2018 and May 2019.
2019 – The CPF Radio Hour moved to a pre-recorded podcast format so creative teams have full control over production quality and scheduling.
2020 – The Cary Playwrights’ Forum and Creative Greensboro co-produced the first annual NC Radio Play Festival.
2023 – Jay Zadeh became the new lead producer for the audio play festival on behalf of The Cary Playwrights’ Forum. The NC Radio Play Festival was renamed The NC Audio Play Festival.
