NC AUDIO PLAY FESTIVAL 2026

We proudly present the 7th Annual NC Audio Play Festival! Originally co-created by The Cary Playwrights’ Forum and Creative Greensboro in 2020.

We are seeking voice actors to bring our audio plays to life! All performance roles are volunteer positions. Completed audio productions will be posted free-to-stream on YouTube beginning mid-October 2026.

What to Expect

Casting notification / confirmation by the first week of August.

Expect 1-2 scheduled rehearsals with the director. Rehearsals may be virtual (Zoom) or in-person. Exact number of rehearsals will vary by production.

Audio recording will begin in August. Recording may be done at home (see the How-To video below) or may be done in-person. The recording method and recording schedule will vary by production.

Please understand that recording audio may require multiple “takes” to get the line reading the director needs. We may not know we need a new line reading until we start splicing the audio together (think of it as adjustments during “tech week”). We will try to be respectful of your time. The good news is you only have to “get it right” once!

The completed production with all five audio plays will be posted to YouTube by mid-October (leading up to Halloween 2026). The final product will be free-to-stream and available to listen any time.

How to Audition

DEADLINE FOR AUDIO SUBMISSIONS – JULY 26TH @ 11:59:59 PM

Browse the festival lineup of plays below. You can peruse each script and choose which shows and characters you want to be considered for.

Some character genders and ages may be specified, depending on the script. Such descriptors define the character but not necessarily the person cast in the role (that’s the magic of voice acting). If you have a voice and an energy that fits the part, please audition!

All auditions will be submitted via recordings. There are no in-person auditions for the 2026 NC Audio Play Festival.

You can submit a professional voice actor reel or audio recorded specifically for this festival.

Recordings should be approximately 30-60 seconds.

Your audio recording can be a direct reading from one of the scripts. You can read as one character or multiple characters. If you want a “scene partner” in your recording, please make it clear in the recording who is auditioning. If you BOTH are auditioning, you must submit separate audition forms (but you can use the same audio recording).

You don’t need to record for every script or character you are interested in. Each audition form has an opportunity for you to declare if you are willing to accept other roles.
