The 12th Annual PlaySlam will be presented by ArtsCenter Stage and the Playwrights Roundtable on Saturday evening, September 27, 2014 at 8:00PM. North Carolina-based playwrights are eligible to submit scripts for the competition.
Playwrights MUST be present at the Arts Center on the day of show, to direct rehearsals of their plays between 4:00PM and 6:00PM, and be present for the show that evening.
Submissions will accepted from July 7-August 1, 2014.
SCRIPTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNTIL JULY 7th. Submissions will be cut off when 13 playwrights, each submitting a pairs of scripts, have been received.
Email your scripts to the Roundtable: “email@example.com”
Plays will be selected on a “first come, first served” basis. ONLY the first 13 playwrights who submit properly will be included in the show. SO SUBMIT EARLY AS YOU CAN!
How PlaySlam Works:
All playwrights must submit EXACTLY 2 scripts (1 play for each round) of 1-to-3 minutes in length.
Day of SHOW: The acting ensemble rehearses all plays, directed by the playwrights.
All 13 of the Round 1 plays are performed.
The audience votes on their 5 favorite plays.
Scorekeepers collect and tally ballots during intermission.
The authors of the audience’s 5 favorite plays move on to the Finals/Round 2 with their Round 2 play.
The acting ensemble performs the 5 Finalist/Round 2 plays.
The audience votes on their favorite Round 2 play.
The Scorekeepers tally audience ballots for Rounds 2.
The playwright with the most votes from Round 2 wins cold, hard cash! 100 bucks of it!
How to Submit:
Submit 2 scripts at the same time to email address above, after July 7th, 2014.
Cover sheet MUST indicate one of the scripts as the Round 1 play, the other as the Round 2 play.
Plays must run 1-to-3 minutes in length.
Plays must be submitted in a WORD or PDF File only.
Each script should include a title page with: title, list of characters, setting, a tagline (one-sentence description) of your play, as well as being labeled for either Round 1 or Round 2.
The first 13 playwrights to enter completed submissions (2 plays/per playwright, one for each round, in the correct format with tag lines etc) will be entered into the 12th Annual PlaySlam.
The winning playwright takes home $100.
Invite all your friends and families to pack the audience, and obtain an unfair advantage!
