“Writers are the creative wellspring of theatre… write on!”
2027 Fundraiser
Accepting Submissions for our
One-Night Only Fundraiser Event
We’re seeking Short Plays, Monologues, Songs, Poetry, and Dance Compositions!
Submission Guidelines
All Submissions should focus on the theme of “love.” We are particularly interested in under-represented forms of love, queer love, self-love, platonic love, and generally “love in all its forms.” Submissions can also explore how love is perceived by under-represented or unique viewpoints (aromantics, for example).
SUBMISSIONS DUE BY SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH @ 11:59:59 PM
Author of the submitted work must be a North Carolina resident. If multiple authors are credited, at least one author must be a North Carolina resident.
Short Plays should not exceed 12 minutes in length. Monologues should be no longer than 2 minutes.
Short Plays and Monologues must be anonymized for submissions.
Songs, Poetry, or Dance Submissions must be accompanied by a video of the performance. If selected, the author will perform their submission on the night of the fundraiser. The author may also select a stand-in of their choosing.
Minimizing technical requirements (props, furniture, costumes, sound, and lighting) will improve chances of selection.
The event will be hosted at The Arts Center in Carrboro, North Carolina, for one night only: Thursday, February 11th!
Short plays and monologues will be performed by local actors. Songs, poetry, and dance compositions will be performed by the original artist(s).
Tickets for Raffle Baskets will be sold during the event. Raffle Baskets will be awarded at the end of the evening.
Funds raised through ticket sales, raffle ticket sales, and donations will be used to finance future productions and workshops hosted by Brave New Classics and The Cary Playwrights Forum.
