One-Night Only Fundraiser Event

Short Plays (~12 minutes)
Monologues
Songs, Poetry, or Dance Composition

All submissions should focus on the theme of “love.” We are particularly interested in under represented forms of love, queer love, self love, platonic love, and generally “love in all its forums.” Works may also explore how love is perceived by under-represented or unique viewpoints (aromantics, for example).

Submission Requirements

The creator or a co-creator of the work must be a North Carolina resident

Minimizing technical requirements (props, furniture, costumes, sound, and lighting) will improve chances of selection

Short Plays and Monologues must be anonymized

Short Plays must be written in standard play format. Length should not exceed 12 minutes

If submitting a song, poetry, or dance composition you must submit a video of your performance

Note that plays and monologues will be performed by local actors. Songs, poetry, and dance compositions are expected to be performed by the artist(s) that created them. Please address any concerns to our producers!

More About the Event

One Night Only Event: Saturday, February 14th (location TBD but within the NC Research Triangle)

All performers and artists involved in the event are serving as volunteers to maximize the funds raised for Brave New Classics and The Cary Playwrights’ Forum

Plays, monologues, and other performances will be staged in a non-traditional theatre space. (Think, possibly, a cabaret-style environment.)

Tickets for raffle baskets will be sold during the event. Raffle baskets will be awarded at the end of the evening.

BRAVE NEW CLASSICS is a small theatrical production company that focuses on reimagining stage classics and introducing audiences to under-appreciated gems. Raised funds will help finance the Summer 2026 production.

THE CARY PLAYWRIGHTS’ FORUM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on the artistic development of NC playwrights through various workshops and play festivals. Raised funds will help finance the 2026 NC Audio Play Festival.
