Non-resident) (3 classes)<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a7gan\" data-offset-key=\"9tpfe-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"9tpfe-0-0\">\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"31jls\" data-offset-key=\"d1hv1-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"d1hv1-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"d1hv1-0-0\">125017 Mon, Wed, Fri Jul 29\u2013Aug 2, 7:30\u20139:30 p.m.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"31jls\" data-offset-key=\"1cmk4-0-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"9tpfe-0-0\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For both classes:<\/p>\n<p>Register here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.townofcary.org\/recreation-enjoyment\/programs-classes\">https:\/\/www.townofcary.org\/recreation-enjoyment\/programs-classes<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"31jls\" data-offset-key=\"c6j16-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"c6j16-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"c6j16-0-0\">May 6\u2014Cary residents may register<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"31jls\" data-offset-key=\"22md5-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"22md5-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"22md5-0-0\">May 20\u2014Non-residents may register<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>===============================================<\/p>\n<p>FRED CORLETT\u2019S BIO:<\/p>\n<p>My theatre career began in 1965, as a junior at Broughton High School, where I played Chief Sitting Bull in the Rogers and Hammerstein musical ANNIE GET YOUR GUN.\u00a0 That began a history of playing non-singing roles in musicals.\u00a0 While still in high school I became a fixture at the Raleigh Little Theatre where I learned the ancient and hallowed traditions of the theatre.\u00a0 I learned about tech.\u00a0 I built sets, hung lights, and pulled curtains (remember them?).\u00a0 I would eventually act in, or direct, 18 productions (under 8 different directors) over a 50 year period for RLT \u2013 the greatest training ground anyone could wish for.<\/p>\n<p>In 1968 I served an Equity Apprenticeship at the State Theatre of N.C. called the Vagabond Playhouse, in Flat Rock.\u00a0 I built 10 sets that summer, and played Paris in ROMEO AND JULIET, and the Tin Man in THE WIZARD OF OZ.<\/p>\n<p>From 1967 to 1971 I worked in the BFA program in Dramatic Art at UNC \u2013 Chapel Hill, specializing in directing.\u00a0 Haskell Fitzsimmons and I were the first BFA directing majors to graduate from UNC.\u00a0 I returned to Raleigh for 4 years where I performed at RLT and the new Theatre in the Park.\u00a0 TIP produced original productions every year, mostly written by the director, David Wood.\u00a0 I was in 2 original productions there, both directed by the playwright (one of whom was to become Broadway star Terence Mann).\u00a0 I also directed the first of 2 productions I would direct for RLT.<\/p>\n<p>In 1976 I returned to Chapel Hill and earned an MFA in directing in 1978.\u00a0 Haskell would get the same degree a year later, and become the\u00a0 Artistic Director for RLT for 30 years (directing me in 3 productions).\u00a0 It was while working on my MFA that I directed my first production where the playwright was present for rehearsal.\u00a0 It was not always amicable.<\/p>\n<p>Immediately after graduation I joined the N.C. Visiting Artist Program, co-sponsored by the N.C. Arts Council and the N.C.
