Five of North Carolina\u2019s celebrated songwriters come together for a festive evening of original music. Playing in an entertaining\u00a0full-band format, the show features a wide range of musical styles that will keep you smiling and moving in your seats. Legendary\u00a0session players Bobb Head (bass) and John Hanks (drums) groove the group\u2019s moving lyrics and sweet harmonies.<\/p>\n

\"Laurelyn2\"<\/a>\u00a0Laurelyn Dossett<\/strong> www.laurelyndossett.com<\/a><\/p>\n

One of the most sought-after voices in creative collaborations, Laurelyn Dossett wrote \u201cAnna Lee,\u201d featured on Levon Helm\u2019s\u00a0Grammy-winning record Dirt Far mer and Leaving Eden, the title track for the Grammy-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops. She iswriter and producer of The Gathering, a holiday song cycle originally commissioned by the North Carolina Symphony in 2011.<\/p>\n

Laurelyn\u2019s song \u201cThat I Should Know Your Face\u201d was featured on AMC\u2019s Hell On Wheels and she is currently writing the songs for a\u00a0new play “Radiunt Abundunt” that will premiere at Triad Stage in 2016.<\/p>\n

\"Dean<\/a>\u00a0Dean Driver<\/strong> www.reverbnation.com\/deandriver<\/a><\/p>\n

Dean Driver started playing guitar in his teens, and a few years ago started hearing songs in his head, calling him to pick up his old\u00a0guitar and learn to play it in completely new ways.\u00a0 The inspirations continued until he felt the need to produce an all-original\u00a0acoustic album at age 50, which he aptly called Late Bloomer.\u00a0 In 2011, with the generous help of friends and family, he and his\u00a0partner Laurel built a music venue and arts center called Doodad Farm just east of Greensboro, with the goal of making live music\u00a0more accessible and intimate, and fostering collaboration among artists of all types.<\/p>\n

\"photo-Nancy-Middleton\"<\/a>\u00a0Nancy Middleton<\/strong> www.facebook.com\/nancymiddletonmusic<\/a><\/p>\n

Durham native Nancy Middleton has been writing and recording her songs for over 20 years. Her third album of all original tunes\u00a0entitled “Loaded” will be released in June, and this summer she will begin preproduction on “The Stone Garden” a folk-rock opera\u00a0that looks at life beyond with hope, humor, and tenderness; moving listeners in the way only music and song can. \u00a0She spent over a\u00a0decade in Nashville, writing and performing in clubs around the area until the gentle pull of family roots lead her back to her beloved\u00a0hometown. Nancy is always thrilled and honored to share her songs with fellow music lovers!<\/p>\n

\"Joe<\/a>\u00a0Joe Newberry<\/strong> www.joenewberry.me<\/a><\/p>\n

Joe Newberry is a Missouri native and North Carolina transplant who has played music most of his life. Known far and wide for his\u00a0powerful banjo playing, he is a prizewinning guitarist, fiddler, and singer as well. Joe plays with old-time music legends Bill Hicks, Jim\u00a0Watson and Mike Craver, in a duo with mandolinist Mike Compton, and along with Mike, performs with Bruce Molsky and Rafe\u00a0Stefanini as the Jumpsteady Boys. A frequent guest on Garrison Keillor\u2019s A Prairie Home Companion , Joe was also the recipient of\u00a0the songwriting prize for \u201cGospel Recorded Performance\u201d at the 2012 IBMA Awards for his song \u201cSinging As We Rise,\u201d and co-writer\u00a0of the 2013 IBMA Song of the Year for “They Called It Music.”<\/p>\n

\"KReno2014crop\"<\/a>\u00a0Kirk Ridge<\/strong> www.kirkridgemusic.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Kirk Ridge performs with his bands Black Dog Syndrome and Kirk Ridge & Friends. His lyrics have been published in American\u00a0Songwriter magazine, and he has written several dozen songs for Cary Playwrights Forum productions. Kirk\u2019s music has been\u00a0featured on NPR\u2019s Car Talk and London\u2019s Deep Grooves Radio. He was a finalist in the Austin, TX Songwriters contest, won Belfast’s\u00a0Celtic Roots Radio competition, and received a RadioIndy top CD award. Kirk is performance coordinator for the NC Songwriting Co-op and the Durham Arts Council.<\/p>\n

\"JohnHanks\"<\/a>\u00a0John Hanks<\/strong> http:\/\/people.duke.edu\/~jhanks\/<\/a><\/p>\n

John Hanks is a North Carolina native who keeps busy as drummer for jazz and blues bands, including Willie Painter Band, jazz\u00a0guitarist Randy Johnston, Black Dog Syndrome, and others. \u00a0He is the Music Director for the Duke University Dance Program and a\u00a0long time music faculty with the American Dance Festival.<\/p>\n

\"BobbBass-267x300\"<\/a>\u00a0Bobb Head<\/strong> www.bobbhead.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Bobb Head is a talented multi-instrumentalist who will play bass in tonight\u2019s production. A native Texan transplanted to North\u00a0Carolina, Mr. Head has performed at national and international festivals and has graced the stage of A Prairie Home Companion. He\u00a0has played in ensembles including Big Medicine, Sidetrack, and Stillhouse Bottom Band.<\/p>\n
