The show will be Mar 4-6 2016, a co-production of an English translation (by a Morrisville NC woman Dr. Vijaya Bapat, based on Vidyadahr Pundalik’s script) of a 40-minute one-act about revenge and forgiveness based on the Indian epic Mahabharata; will include live classical Indian music and puppetry. It will be paired with related episodes from the Indian epic presented as shadow theatre.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Marathi language program in Morrisville that was co-founded by the translator. Director: Lydia Sbityakov. Producers: Vijaya Bapat & Lydia Sbityakov (lydia@caryplaywrightsforum.org).
Auditions will be cold readings from the scripts. Actors may perform a monologue but this is not required,
Scripts will be placed in the Cary Arts Center conference room.

MAIDS 1 & 2: Renuka’s assistants
BHIMSEN: One of Draupadi’s five husbands
ASHWATHAMA: Man who killed Draupadi’s sons.
Actors from all ethnic backgrounds will be considered for parts.
